Sonia Ragan, LMT

Sonia Ragan is an experienced Licensed Massage Therapist and educator specializing in Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, and Sacred Thai Bodywork. A 2015 graduate of the Sarasota School of Massage Therapy, Sonia maintains a private massage therapy practice where she works with clients experiencing complex pain conditions and utilizes specialized therapeutic techniques to address their individual needs.

Sonia has served as an Anatomy & Physiology instructor at the Sarasota School of Massage Therapy since 2017, bringing her extensive hands-on clinical experience into the classroom. Her approach to education emphasizes a strong understanding of the human body and the practical application of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques in professional massage practice.

From 2015 through 2020, Sonia was mentored by the late Jim Cain, whose approach to Neuromuscular Therapy and Myofascial Release has had a lasting influence on her professional practice and teaching. She is committed to carrying forward his methods by educating future massage therapists in these techniques and emphasizing thoughtful, mindful therapeutic practice. She also teaches NMT, NMT for Anti-Aging, and Thai on the Table continuing education seminars.

Beyond her work in massage therapy and education, Sonia has an accomplished background in ballroom dance. Over a 26-year career, she has taught and competed at both amateur and professional levels and became a United States Open 9-Dance finalist. She has also served as an adjudicator and invigilator for the National Dance Council of America and is co-owner of Ballroom City Dance Studio in Sarasota, Florida.

“Our main goal as massage therapists is mindfulness.” — Jim Cain
