Florida law requires a massage therapy license of anyone who practices touch therapies for compensation. The Florida Board of Massage Therapy requires applicants to pass an exam administered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) or the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) as a requirement for licensure. SSMT graduates are eligible to sit for the NCETMB, NCETM, or MBLEx and have extremely high pass rates on these exams. The fees for these exams range from $175 to $225. Many other states also use the NCETMB and/or the MBLEx as a requirement for licensure, making the credential widely applicable. Students planning to practice in another state may contact the school for information regarding the state in which they are interested in practicing. The school can also supply telephone numbers for the relevant state agencies. There is also a $205 fee that must be paid to the Florida Department of Health for licensure.
